Stacey Weinstock supports nearshore construction permitting and authorizations for Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. She holds a master's degree in environmental studies from the College of Charleston and two bachelor's degrees from Virginia Tech (go Hokies!) in wildlife science and fisheries science. Before joining NOAA, she worked on a variety of environmental and social science issues in South Carolina and Florida, including invasive lionfish, marine conservation education, coastal resilience, and oyster management. In 2019, she joined NOAA as a Sea Grant John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellow, where she spent a year in the Office of Law Enforcement (OLE) on their international team. During her time at NOAA, she has supported both the Office of International Trade and Commerce and OLE in combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing by aiding the U.S. government's international capacity-building efforts and strengthening seafood trade enforcement via the Seafood Import Monitoring Program and NOAA seafood trade programs. Additionally, while at OLE, she supported the $18 million Cooperative Enforcement Program, which deputizes 29 state and territorial marine law enforcement officers to enforce federal laws and regulations. She has worn many hats in her career, but her love for sanctuaries has always remained steadfast. As a former divemaster and self-proclaimed fish nerd (Reef Environmental Education Foundation alum and level two fish surveyor), she is incredibly excited to be with the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries!
